Methodical Study

Step 1: Observation

Observation is the art of seeing details that may sometimes be easily overlooked by the casual observer.  It's tempting to breeze through to the main points while reading Scripture yet these minute details usually add great insight and value to the overall meaning of a passage.

Observation is a crucial step in arriving at the correct interpretation of Scripture.

Observation asks the questions who, what, where, when and why.

Methodical Bible study is the process of employing sequential steps in one's journey to discovering Scriptural truths.  Methodical study enhances the Bible-students' ability to arrive at accurate interpretation of scripture while discovering hidden nuggets of wisdom along the way.

Step 2: Interpretation

After gathering all the facts from one's observation, the next step is to find out what it all means.

The Holy Spirit plays a key role through the entire Bible-study and it is during the interpretation that the Holy Spirit gives the student a revelation of God's truth, His character and a revelation about Jesus.

Step 3: Application

Application is the end goal of Bible study.  Having only head knowledge robs the Bible student of the true value of studying Scripture.

In the end, the study must result in a passionate love for the Lord that leads to changed lives, transformed minds, renewed thinking and living a life that glorifies God.
