Bible commentaries are written by Bible scholars who explain or interpret passages of Scripture or specific books of the Bible. Some commentaries cover the entire Bible, while others are devoted to individual books of the Bible.  These are useful as supplements to one's study but would be best used after studying Scripture for oneself first.  It is important to not rely only on other people's interpretation which can vary even among scholars.
